What's your favorite radio station, past or present?
It was either the radio station at Robert Louis Stevenson High School in Pebble Beach (high school kids with a lotta time and pretty good taste), the true public radio station (learn the equipment/rules, then go in and sign up for a shift/bring your own playlist) in Orange, N.J., or the big FM station outta Manila that had Echo and the Bunnymen back to back with Judas Priest back in '90/'91 when I was stationed over there.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Why?

Probably Austin, Texas or Dublin, Ireland, which is in the planning stage as we speak. Australia/New Zealand also speaks to me from my time spent in the Pacific Rim. Living in a backward-ass, early 20th century-mindset state (and I was born here; part of me really loves Tennessee) is grating on my very soul and there really isn't any hope for improvement given the prevailing local attitudes about "guvmint", and if that sounds snotty or elitist, so be it. I've had enough dumbing down publicly to try and get along with some of the troglodytes that are registered voters down here.
How did you pick your Vox name? Does it mean something?

I've been called Reverend Jim since '94 or so. Galen Kidder hung it on me to differentiate between all the Jims hanging around The Scarlet Tanager. She said that I reminded her of Reverend Jim Ignatowski from "Taxi" and it stuck. I have more people in this town that know me by my nickname than by my given name. I'm also a licensed reverend (add chuckles here) and have married two couples.
What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?

Probably Scotch poured over Wheaties one morning in Korea when I was REALLY hungover and DID NOT care. Also, some Korean and Filipino food where I didn't ask/want to know all the ingredients.
What food or drink do you love when it's cold out? (Recipes and recommendations, please!)
Good strong coffee.
Black-eyed peas as follows(my wife's recipe):
2 1 lb. pkgs of Black-eyed peas
3 or 4 ham hocks
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp oregano
2 medium garlic cloves
(all of the above is to taste; I like spicier peas)
Soak peas overnight
Next day, rinse peas and place in crock pot/slow cooker with ham hocks.
Sprinkle seasonings over mix and then fill cooker with water.
Place on Hi setting for at least three hours, then cook on low for 6-8 more. (This can vary from cooker to cooker; some cook hotter/faster than others). Also, allow for how soft you prefer your peas. Uncover and enjoy-be careful, they will be very hot.
Recommended sides: turnip greens with a little hot vinegar sprinkled on top and homemade cornbread. And if that sounds a little Dukes Of Hazzard-esque, so be it; it IS hillbilly food after all. :->
What are your plans for the weekend?
Total guy-fest with my best male friend - hot, homemade chili and Hebrew National hot dogs AND the first game of the freakin' WORLD SERIES! I am such a baseball geek.
I will enjoy the rest of it with my lovely, intelligent and very hot wife ;->
I know no one else's can hope to compare but I hope all of you enjoy your weekends.
